Bowdon Club has internal leagues for both squash and racketball, which all members are welcome to join. An annual tournament with many categories (including handicap, veterans) is held around March/April, and our Annual Dinner is held at the end of the season.
This season the men have 6 teams playing in the North West Counties Squash Leagues (one of the largest competitive squash leagues in the world).
Our head coach is Pete Billson, who has been with us since April 2012, having previously been at Abbeydale (one of the top Yorkshire clubs), and The Northern, Didsbury.
Bowdon has one of the strongest junior squash sections in the North West with players from beginners to England Squad level. At the club SQUASH+ runs a comprehensive junior squash programme. The squash development pathway caters for all ages/abilities and allows each junior to reach their full potential.
The programme is underpinned by the SQUASH+ schools partnership initiative, the club has many links but is always looking to develop new relationships. Bowdon is home to the SQUASH+ Academy programme, which is attended by Elite junior squash players from all over the Cheshire County. All detailed information of what we offer can be found in the ‘SQUASH+ Coaching’ section.
Junior membership is available at the Club. Juniors can currently take advantage of the ‘Free courts for Juniors’ initiative, which offers free use of courts up to 4.40pm midweek (i.e. you need to pay for the 5.00pm court) and at all times at weekends. Please note, this is not available for organised coaching sessions, when the court fee must be paid. At busier times, it is sensible to book a court to be sure of getting a game. The Club reserves the right to remove the ‘free courts for juniors’ offer at any time.
Along with our 4 squash courts, Bowdon Club is home to a professionally maintained cricket pitch and an ‘Aquaturf’ water-based hockey pitch – visit bowdonclub.com for more information.
